CCNA City Park

In Memory

Happy Holiday Season to you all. The last 10 years has been a labor of Love for me to serve our neighborhood. The labor and Love does not cease with my passing of leadership of the CCNA on to Jeff Galle. I will continue to serve the CCNA board as Vice President as we move on to more exciting challenges surely to come. Our highest priority will be to make our dream of a neighborhood city park a reality. This has been a project in works for many years and we are finally closer to our dream with the acceptance of the land dedication by City Council in September. We are forming a parks committee which will begin talks with city staff in 2010 to move plans forward. I and the CCNA board hope that this also may be the stimulus for renewed interest and participation and membership in our association. We see the park as a community effort and asset. The success and scope of what we can make of this park will depend in a large degree on community and neighborhood interest. We have been told that the park is slated for the city’s 5 year development plan for 2012 but with additional neighborhood input, sweat equity, funding it is possible we could get priority attention and move that date up a year. The CCNA hopes to also encourage involvement this year from several community events.

We need and want your involvement, membership, input and suggestions to better serve this neighborhood. We understand that we all live busy lives, we many times have good intentions to respond and let them slip past day by day, but this is our neighborhood, this is our investment in our homes and community. Please take this opportunity to help us make it valued and better.  Contact and Support CCNA

Blessings to you all,
Gary Hogan, President 1999-2009

In the ten years that Gary has served our neighborhood as Chapel Creek NA President, his impact on the day-to-day quality of life in our area is undeniable. As the voice of our neighborhood, he has kept our area's needs and concerns current with the Fort Worth City Council.  As the resident expert on natural gas drilling, he has helped not only us, but neighborhoods all across the Barnett Shale strike fair and balanced agreements with the various production companies that benefit all parties involved.

Chapel Creek has grown.  Roads have widened. More neighbors have moved in.  Sonic is close...but not too close. A park is finally coming to our backyard. And as our neighborhood establishes itself, I look forward to working with everyone to help our community continue to grow.  Over the past year as Vice President, I have learned a lot from Gary. This next year, as President, I am hoping to learn a lot from you. Gary has charged me with putting renewed sense of energy into the organization, and I need to hear from everyone to accomplish that goal.  What do you like about the CCNA now? What would you like to see change? If you cannot attend our meetings, what prevents you from coming?  If you are not currently a member, what would change your mind?

I will admit, for the first several years after moving to Brea Canyon, I was perfectly content to be a non-member. I enjoyed reading the newsletters, but felt really no push to join the group until I met Gary and Brenda face-to-face one afternoon. It took meeting and talking to them to motivate my involvment, to bring them beyond strangers leaving me flyers on my doorknob every three months.  If you are like me during those first few years, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We put out the newsletter for everyone, and if you are reading it, then hopefully you are getting something from it beyond the free rubber band.  But if you would like to take one more step, help fund the printing costs, the website hosting, and the National Night Out signs, please get in touch with me.  Make me more than just another stranger leaving fliers on your doorknob.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Galle, President 2010
